I’ve always been a nerd. I’ve sometimes been a poet. I took that combo far enough that years ago, when I was gainfully employed as a pretentious poetry student (my employers being my incredulous parents) I spent my study time on Great Literature and my leisure time on D&D, MST3K, and syndicated episodes of Star Trek: TNG.
Even then, my writer half and my nerd half were always butting heads, since my writing program, like many, didn’t encourage work outside the realm of formal literature. And my writer half was in conflict with my rest of me, since I didn’t have much to say unless I was hurt or angry.
Years later, tired of literary snobbery, highfalutin poetry and a life peppered with drama and angst, I drifted away from writing.
And then, after an awesome vacation in which I hung out with lots of extremely creative nerds for a week, the obvious hit me: I should be a nerd poet. Geeky poetry is something I’d want to read.
That’s where this blog comes in: a new geeky poem every week.
(There may still be pretension. It’s a difficult habit to break.)

I’m glad to have just stumbled upon your blog! Geek poetry is something I’m acquiring an increasing passion for, and I’m looking to read as much of it as I write. I like what you have here!
